Spain Travel Deals: Comparison Shopping for Travel

In this article I want to give you some details about a site that will help you to do a bit of comparison shopping when looking for the best Spain travel deals.  The site I am referring to is called Travel Grove (www.travelgrove.com).

Now, most of us who have traveled by air have seen some of the websites that allow you to check airline ticket prices that are being advertised by different companies.  By doing this, they save you the effort of going to each company’s site individually to check for the best offers.

Travel Grove does this as well.  So, if you visit the site, you will be able to check with a number of the major ticket brokers to find the best Spain travel deals they offer for your flight.  However, what makes Travel Grove special when compared to other sites offering a similar service is the fact that they allow you to comparison shop for every other aspect of your trip as well.

In, other words, you will be able to use Travel Grove to search a number of major hotel booking sites, in order to find the cheapest price for a room.  After doing that, you can shop around for the cheapest car rental company.  All you need to do when looking for deals for any particular facet of your trip, is type where and when you are going, and tell Travel Grove which of the major booking sites you want it to search for deals.

If you are planning a cruise based vacation, there is also a facility on the site to search among several different cruise lines to find the best offers.

Another nice feature on Travel Grove is the deals page.  Just click the deals tab, and enter in your destination in the search box.  If you want the best Spain travel deals that the site can currently find, you could just enter Spain in the search, and then see where in the country you can get the best offers.  If you have already made a definite decision about where in Spain you want to travel, you can also enter a city name in the search box for a more focused list of offers.

Finally, check out the quick reference travel guides that are available on Travel Grove to get an introduction to Spain, and anyplace else you might want to visit during your holiday.

As a final piece of advice for this article about getting the best travel deals, I highly recommend that you also check out the great offer on the sidebar of this blog.  The product listed there will show you some lesser known ways for getting good deals (particularly on airline rickets).

In the interest of full disclosure, the sidebar product is an affiliate offer, so if you do purchase it through any link on this site, I will receive a commission for the sale.

Spain Travel Deals: European Discount Airlines

Any European travelers looking for Spain travel deals on airfares have undoubtedly come across both easyJet and Ryan Air.  For those who don’t know already, these two companies are among the biggest players in discount air travel within Europe.  Today, I wanted to do a quick post about some of the advantages and disadvantages you may face when using either of these two companies to travel around Spain, or within another area of Europe.  (Please not that this post will not be relevant for anyone looking to book tickets to Spain from outside of Europe.  However, if you ate planning to visit multiple Spanish cities, or go on an extended European holiday, you may find it useful).

First let’s take a look at Ryan Air.  A look at the front page of their website will usually reveal the current deals that are being promoted.  This airline is well known for advertising very low fares (sometimes as low as one British pence) for a one way trip.  This may sound unbelievable, but you need to remember that this price is before taxes.  In, my experience, it is also unlikely that you will find such a cheap price for both the outgoing and return segments of your trip.

Another issue that I have has with Ryan air in the past is that they offer service to more out of the way airports for some flights.  For example, if you want to travel to Barcelona, Ryan Air only offers flights to Reus.  From this airport, it is roughly a 90 minute journey to Barcelona’s city center.  With easyJet, you can book a ticket directly to Barcelona airport.  The trade off here is that easyJet tickets can be a bit more expensive.  However, when looking for the best Spain travel deals, I feel it is important to factor convenience into the equation.

While on the subject of ticket price, I have to say that I prefer easyJet’s method of including all the taxes in their quoted price right from the start.  (Everything is included except for an optional fee for any hold bags, and a third party tax.  Both of these fees are revealed later in the checkout process).

Of course, anyone would agree that the prospect of getting a Ryan Air ticket for just one pence is enticing, but I would personally prefer to see all the taxes included in the price up front.  With regard to customer service, I have been reasonably satisfied with both airlines.  They both offer the basic level of service that you might expect from a discount service, and both offer the convenience of an electronically available boarding pass.

Overall, I tend to choose Ryan Air for price, and easyJet for convenience, when they offer a route closer to my end destination.  I would recommend that that you check with both companies before booking a ticket.  I would also suggest that you do not discount large carriers, as research will often uncover some excellent Spain travel deals from them as well.

Spain Travel Deals: When to Travel to find the Best Airfares

When looking for the best Spain travel deals for your next vacation, one of the first things you are likely to be concerned with is finding a good deal on your airline ticket.  Indeed, transportation to the country can be one of the largest expenditures associated with a trip to Spain.  That being said, there are some things you can do to significantly decrease the amount of money you will need to pay for your travel ticket.

In this post, we will begin to look at how taking the time of year you plan to travel into consideration can have a big impact on ticker price, and how traveling outside of the main tourist season can have a number of other unforeseen cost benefits.

As you may already be aware, Spain’s summer months, (mainly June through August), tend to be the most expensive period of time to visit the country.  The most obvious reason for this is clearly the weather.  Indeed, if you are primarily interested in a beach holiday, this is the best time to visit any Mediterranean country for swimming and surfing.

If however the beach is not going to be the primary reason for your holiday some great Spain travel deals can often be had by visiting the country in the winter months.  In some countries, traveling during this time period will not make for the most pleasant experience, however, Spain’s winters can be considered quite mild as compared to say the northern United States.

In my most recent trip to Spain, I actually visited Barcelona in early January, and found the weather to be quite pleasant.  Even the beaches were still very active during this trip, and enjoying lunch at one of the many seaside cafes was particularly enjoyable.

During this time period, in addition to the possibility of finding airfare discounted by a significant amount, you will also find that crowds at many popular tourist sites will be noticeably smaller.  More reasonably priced accommodation can frequently be has in the off season as well.

If you go at the start of January as I did most recently, you will also be pleasantly surprised with the shopping deals you can find throughout the country.  This is because after the Spanish holiday of Three Kings Day (January 6), stores tend to offer some of their best sale prices of the year.  This is the perfect time to go looking for any special souvenirs you may want to purchase.

In doing your next online search for Spain travel deals, I would suggest looking at some winter dates using the calendar feature of any major airline ticket site.  You may find airfare discounted by several hundred dollars as compared to the fares on offer for the summer months.  I hope you will check back to this blog often, as we will be going into much more detail about how to find cheap airline tickets, and how to save on many other aspects of your Spain vacation.
